artist's statement: Artistic Creations of years in New York City & Catskill Mountains

My pieces express my hopes and horrors of our cosmos and should be observed at several levels.  I see the pieces as sculptural assemblages with multi-layers often visible through one another.  The beauty and danger of the glass fragments and their relationship to transparent colours and light are crucial elements in depicting the realms they represent.     I cut and paint shapes of various kinds of glass ~curved, fractured, textured, stained, mirrored~
which together on a background form a piece.  Colours of transparent enamels and pearlescent paints adorn and unify a variety of surfaces.  I incorporate my photography and collected treasures such as metal, wood, or natural objects, the placing of which is determined by an intuitive dialogue with the piece throughout the working process.  I strive to offer viewers an opportunity to reach toward that savage yet serene country that is our absolute essence.  We are the microcosm of this forgotten macrocosmic beauty, here improvised by my artistic intuition.
I see in my pieces dreams for the the unity of mankind and the exploration of our cosmos ~from Atlantis to Challenger~ and warnings of the destruction of ourselves ~from daily pollution to nuclear war~.  The more I create, the more I recognize the total interdependence of all creation.  I combine my fantasies of travels in the vast oceans of space, sea, and self, of archeological digs and lands shattered by explosions.  To me, outer space is inner space and one may travel there to infinity.

Fragments of dreams and reality reflected in creations of glass.
